birthday flags

here is a custom happy birthday banner i made. i made one main banner that said happy birthday and a seperate banner that ties to the end of the main banner for each of the kids with their name on it.

i think it turned out cute. i am planning on making one for my little family, but i probably won't have the attaching name banners...

aren't my walls pretty with the '70s era space heater and door bell?!? love it. 

a moment in the spotlight

bryan's been gone for almost 3 weeks straight. he has been in korea, japan and ... florida. he got back last night and i am SO excited to have him back. life is just easier when he's around. we have all sorts of great adventures planned for him...but we'll probably end up chilling around our house and that's ok with me. i hope you all have a great weekend too.

while he was in florida for CTIA wireless, a conference for wireless telecommunications, he was interviewed by brad mccarty at TNW and here is the video from the article he wrote up. check it out!

hat crazy!

for the last 2+ weeks, i have been putting together some more wee hats for a trade that i am excited about. i will tell you more about this soon, but i thought i would share some of these cute caps. won't they be wonderful on a cute little head?!? these will be in the shop soon.

1-2-3 grow

i started this growth chart over a year ago and it's just now getting checked off "the list." i am trying to get done with previously begun projects so that i don't have quite as many partly done projects laying around taking up space and reminding me that i'm getting behind...

i like how it turned out. i think it could be a bit more...well, straight. it is great for us though. i started this project, because at my house we have a little wall in the pantry for measuring our growth as we grew up. since we are probably not going to have a permanent home for quite some time i thought this would be a great way to document our kiddos' growing years.

for the birds

the girls' room is starting to come together. here is a little mobile i made for baby sparks a few weeks back. it was pretty quick. i used this pattern for the birds (i did size them down a little though.) i think if i were to do it again i would use this pattern instead. i used part of an embroidery hoop for the ring and braided the chain to hook it to the ceiling. i think it is cute and hopefully this little girl will like waking up to these little guys flying overhead.

32 weeks and all's well

here i am at 32 weeks. the last couple of weeks have left me feeling extremely...well...pregnant. i can tell this little girl is getting big and cramped in her surroundings. 

lately i feel like i am done parenting penelope at 6pm...which would be fine if bryan were around, but he's not. i am seriously considering moving bedtime to 6... what do you think? she is, however, very useful for picking up things i drop on the ground. 

at my last appointment with dr. b everything looked good. i had my blood taken and i passed out...which is a first for me. all the blood results came back withing "normal" range, so i am super happy about that. i have an appointment this week,  i am excited to see the progress.

  

penelope is gearing up to be a big sister. she will be a great big sister. she's decided that we should name the baby daphne (like from scooby doo.) she's also told me she wants to give the baby a red bear when she's born, so i started working on a red teddy.

more hats

here are some hats that will be going up in the shop soon. i will be opening a baby/kids section...maybe even a seperate shop. it will have hats, headbands, clips and booties for wee ones. i haven't felt like i've had the time lately to really update the shop...or create a new shop. bryan will be out of town a fair amount in the coming weeks, so i may have time soon.

 

the above 5 hats are made out of the softest bamboo and i am going to be working on a few more colors. i have also been doing some animal themed hats. too excited!

miss p writes

we've been practicing tracing letters with miss p. she is loving learning letters and numbers. i could probably be a little more persistent about having class time, but for now we are just having fun, nothing serious.

sushi night

we did a sushi night with the young women i work with at church. we learned a little about japanese culture and then we had a great demonstration on how to make sushi and miso soup from Yumi Hardy. all of the girls had the opportunity to make their own sushi roll. most of the girls had never tried sushi before. some of them liked it and some of them didn't... but i was proud of them for trying it.

 

 

we had a blast.
