christmas cards are out!
here are our Christmas cards for 2010. we did a faux photobooth pic printed at costco. we used the leftover envelopes from our wedding announcements. we have had those envelopes for way too long and needed to use them for something. i designed the cards and had them printed at staples.
i used some cute little reindeer cutouts from mommy holly bought at the queen bee market to add a bit of garnish. i am happy with the outcome. they were frugal and i think they are fun!
if you didn't get a card, consider this your card :)! merry christmas from us to you.
xoxo

children's museum
we went downtown to the children's museum last week. we haven't ever been and i think the place is fantastic. they had a lot of little projects for the kids to do. penelope made her own kalidescope! she wore it around her neck for 3 days straight. i am seriously thinking about getting a family membership this next year...
we ate breakfast/lunch at cafe222. it was good, but it wasn't as exciting as i had hoped. i ordered the peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast, it was on bobby flay's best thing i ever ate. it was good...but, like i said, not as exciting as i had hoped
it was good to get out amidst all our christmas craziness that i was inflicting on penelope and myself. it was also good to celebrate tira's birthday a bit.

it's a girl...they think
we went in for our 20 week checkup yesterday. i was so blissed out, because i was sure i would leave knowing the sex of the baby...
1hr later we walked away with an "i think it's a girl baby..." for our answer. the baby was not giving anything up willingly and we didn't even get a good profile picture. we did get a picture of her (?) foot. the great news is that the baby is very healthy and measuring right for a may 8th due date. i gained much more weight this month...total gain=10 lb yikes.
i am starting to get excited about having another girl (?). i was kind of hoping it would be a boy, just so that i could have one of each. growing up i ALWAYS wanted a big sister though (i had 4 brothers and i was the only girl for 14 years.) SO, i am glad that she (?) will have a good big sister (penelope) to look up to and play with. i also really love making baby girl things.

bryan ordered me these cookies as a joke...it is more like 75 % sure it's a girl silly boy!
bryan is insistent that i not make or buy anything for a girl until we are more sure. bummed. but i am a lucky girl and have a super SWEET uncle who is willing to do another ultrasound for us this sunday! yay! i will update you on that later. all those who guessed girl here or on facebook will get a free hair clip! i will wait, however, to do this until after the follow-up ultrasound. and here i am 3 days shy of 20 weeks

19 weeks and taking a holiday
what a week! i have been really busy this week with the shop and what not. we went to bryan's work party on friday night. it was fun to get out with bry, eat yummy food and do a little dancing...yes, we did do a little dancing.
we have made it to week 19. babycenter.com tells me that the baby is now 8 1/2 oz. and 6 in. long from the top of the head to the rump. this past week the baby has been having all sorts of sensory development and will continue to grow faster and faster...yikes.
i have another busy week ahead, but this one is more exciting. i am putting finishing touches on all of our christmas presents, getting ready to go on vacation, hitting up the children's museum AND...drum roll please... on thursday we find out if this baby is a he or a she. i am so excited! Byran and p are pretty sure it is a girl, so i'm guessing boy. i would really like to have you all take a guess as to what it will be. who knows... maybe i will send a free hair clip to all the people who guess it right...who knows :). keep your eyes open for a post on thursday or friday with the big news and i tummy shot.
in other news i am taking a break from my shop for a week or 3... starting today. if you were wanting to make an order, run over and do it now. i will probably close up mid-afternoonish. i can't tell you how grateful i have been to all my wonderful customers. i have been so blessed. thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support.

bloggers give back project
i am participating in the bloggers give back project & i am really excited about the event. it will be an online auction for donated items. i am looking forward to bidding on some items and i am donating one of my mini-scarves to be bid on. i would encourage you to go check out the site and donate or bid on an item. the money raised will be going to a family who lost their home to a fire. now is the time of year to realize how very blessed we are and to share some of our blessings with others who have been less fortunate.

birds of a feather
i have been trying to make an ornament each year for each member of our family. this year's ornaments have not been completed, but we are planning on doing it for family night tonight. we are doing origami cranes...bryan is going to be our teacher. here are the ornaments i made for the last 2 years.
owls of 2008
birds of 2009

also, don't you love the ruffled garland i made for the tree? it was super easy. i just sewed strips of white fabric together, gathered and then sewed down the middle to keep the gathers in place. it ties in nicely with my tree skirt.
